- THOR's terminology and operating methods spring from the desire to keep a
- consistant interface across many different kinds of messages bases. This
- is all good and usefull if one actually uses many kinds of message bases.
-
- However, many of the users here and perhaps all of the vocal detractors of
- Thor do not use many different kinds of messages bases. They use only
- RFC822 mail and Usenet News. In this context, Thor's message format
- independence provides no advantage. Further the compromises in usage and
- terminology needed to achieve message store independence make the program
- harder to use and less effective for news and mail.
-
- Thor is definately the 4x4 of news/mail readers. It goes places Grn, Tin,
- elm, etc can't go. But what's the point if you never leave the pavement?
